Associate/Engineer – Thermal Sciences (Ph.D.)

Location: Philadelphia, PA – US-PA-Philadelphia

We are looking for a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with strong expertise in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, combustion, and thermodynamics to join our Thermal Sciences Practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate mechanical and chemical system failures through experimental test programs.
• Design, construct, and analyze test apparatuses and thermal design.
• Apply heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics analysis to support design decisions.
• Conduct field work, including off‑site testing and evidence inspections.
• Review and summarize background information related to failure events.
• Write reports, prepare presentations, and present results to clients.
• Identify and market opportunities to internal and external clients.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Strong technical background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, combustion, and thermodynamics.
• Hands‑on experience managing experimental programs and troubleshooting test setups.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Motivation and flexibility to tackle diverse problems beyond one's direct area of expertise.
• Capable of marketing technical knowledge to external clients.
• Domestic travel likely required.

Compensation

Base salary scale based on experience and capabilities, with opportunities for bi‑weekly bonuses, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
