Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking an experienced Operator Training Simulator Engineer to develop and integrate operator training simulators for nuclear plant systems. You will lead simulator model development, verification and validation, and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure accurate, robust simulations.

The role requires a deep background in thermal-hydraulic simulation and extensive knowledge of nuclear plant operations, with strong debugging and system integration

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in mechanical/nuclear/electrical engineering or related field.
• 15+ years' experience in operator training simulator development.
• Proficient experience in thermal-hydraulic simulation.
• Excellent simulator software and hardware debugging capability.
• Excellent knowledge in nuclear power plant operations.
• Familiar with distributed control system.

• Collaborate in planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed phases of engineering work.
• Provide technical oversight and direction to design teams.
• Assess customer needs and capture required functions of the electrical system for nuclear stations.
• Execute simulator assignments with defined objectives; use specifications and interface control documents.
• Recommend design alterations to improve quality from assembly to commissioning and maintenance.
• Lead reviews for internal and customer design reviews on simulator designs.

This position performs simulator model development, simulator integration, simulator testing, simulator maintenance, and subcontract oversight. Experience specific to Thermal-Hydraulic Simulation is required.**Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities*** Collaborate in planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed phases of engineering work.* Collaborate in the technical oversight and direction of internal or external design teams.* Facilitate and assist in the assessment of customer needs and captures requirements and functions of the electrical system for nuclear generating stations.* Execute simulator assignments with clear and specified objectives; utilizes conventional specification and/or Interface Control Documents and plans.* Recommend system design alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures from an assembly, transportation, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and/or decommissioning perspective.* Leads reviews and presentations for internal company design reviews and customer design reviews regarding simulator design.* Organize engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, contractors, or other groups as required.* Develop/maintain plant simulation models.* Develop the operator training simulator requirements.* Conduct the operator training simulator verification and validation activities.* Write simulator technical reports and testing reports.* Review subcontractor technical reports and other deliverables.* Maintain simulator hardware and software.* Maintain simulator configuration control tools on GitLab.* Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.* Perform other duties as assigned by manager.**Job Profile Minimum Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in mechanical/nuclear/electrical engineering or related degree from an accredited institution.* 15+ years' experience in operator training simulator development.* Proficient experience in thermal-hydraulic simulation.* Excellent simulator software and hardware debugging capability.* Excellent knowledge in nuclear power plant operations.* Familiar with distributed control system.**Location:** 5303 Spectrum Dr, Frederick MD**Work Schedule: 4** days a week in office**Travel Expectations:** Up to 5% as needed**Hours:** 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri**Compensation**As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).
