Job summary

Fermi Research Alliance, LLC in Batavia, IL, seeks a Mechanical Thermal Fluids Engineer to lead planning, design, fabrication, installation, testing and operation of thermal systems for the accelerator complex. You will coordinate with engineers, technicians and vendors to deliver safe, compliant cooling and high‑temperature components under DOE orders and lab standards.

Qualifications include a ABET‑accredited bachelor’s degree with 4+ years, or a Master/PhD with 2+ years; strong CAD/2D‑3D

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of engineering experience, or Master/PhD with 2+ years.
• Strong CAD/3D modeling, piping design and fluid mechanics skills.
• Ability to work with suppliers, vendors and cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, fabrication, installation, testing and operation of thermal systems for the accelerator complex.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians and vendors to ensure safe, compliant cooling solutions.
• Apply DOE orders and lab standards in all design and testing activities.
• Perform calculations for mass, energy balance and heat transfer as part of system sizing.
