Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Thermal Engineer for a federal program based in Boulder, CO. You will provide thermal design and analysis for spacecraft, cryogenic systems, and related aerospace hardware, supporting development from concept through deployment. A TS/SCI clearance is required for this role.

The position emphasizes hands-on analysis, reporting, and collaboration with government stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver reliable thermal solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI access.
• Experience with thermal design and analysis of spacecraft, aerospace hardware, or related technologies.
• Working knowledge of thermal, radiation, and convection principles.
• Experience with Thermal Desktop, ANSYS Mechanical, CFD, SINDA, and SolidWorks or CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal design and analysis of spacecraft, flight hardware, cryogenic systems, antenna systems, and ground support equipment.
• Calculate heat transfer coefficients, temperature distributions, and heat flow for steady-state and transient conditions.
• Develop thermal loads, environments, and analytical models for spacecraft and related hardware.
• Support thermal environmental testing in air and vacuum environments.
• Generate detailed technical reports documenting thermal analyses and test results.
• Review engineering drawings, procedures, and orders for accuracy and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide thermal engineering expertise throughout development.
