Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA, seeks a Thermal Engineer to own the thermal design of electronics across air vehicles, maritime and ground systems, and wearables. You will apply heat transfer and fluid dynamics expertise to develop architectures, create FEA/CFD models, and define heat-rejection paths to withstand demanding environments.

You will collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams, perform prototype tests, and present results at reviews.

Qualifications

• MS or higher degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied physics, or related with focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• In-depth understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics fundamentals.
• 2-4 years of thermal design, analysis, or testing for electronics or integrated hardware products.
• Familiarity with electronics cooling concepts: TIMs, heatsinks, heat pipes, enclosure cooling.
• Exposure to thermal testing: sensor selection, data acquisition, data post-processing.
• Experience with at least one thermal FEA/CFD tool.
• CAD experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the thermal design and analysis of electronics from board level to enclosures.
• Define thermal architecture and heat-rejection paths for multiple platforms.
• Develop and run FEA/CFD models to predict performance and set design limits.
• Define operating conditions across altitude, humidity, solar load, and wearables.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers on power dissipation.
• Present thermal status at reviews and drive trade studies balancing margin, size, weight, and power.
• Develop prototype builds and tests, post-process data, and summarize results.
• Support failure reviews with data and thermal analysis.
