Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to own the thermal design of electronics across air, maritime, ground, and wearable systems. You will apply heat transfer and fluid dynamics expertise to ensure performance in harsh environments.

This role involves building and validating FEA/CFD models, defining heat-rejection paths, and collaborating with electrical and mechanical teams to meet strict specs.

Qualifications

• MS or higher in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics
• Strong understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics
• 5+ years designing thermal solutions for electronics or hardware
• Experience with electronics cooling and packaging (TIMs, heatsinks, heat pipes, enclosures)
• Experience with passive and active thermal management
• Thermal testing and data acquisition
• Thermal FEA/CFD: STAR-CCM+, ANSYS, Icepak, FloEFD
• CAD: Siemens NX or SolidWorks
• US Top Secret clearance eligibility

Responsibilities

• Own the thermal design and analysis of electronics from board to full assemblies
• Use first principles and MATLAB/Python models to inform design decisions
• Define thermal architecture and heat-rejection paths for various platforms
• Establish operating conditions for altitude, flight envelopes, and other environments
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to characterize power dissipation
• Present thermal status at reviews and with customers
• Develop internal tools to improve analysis efficiency
• Support failure reviews with data and thermal analysis
