Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA seeks a Thermal Engineer to own the thermal design of electronics across air, maritime, ground, and wearable systems. You will bring heat transfer and fluid dynamics expertise to ensure reliability in demanding environments.

Responsibilities include defining thermal architectures, conducting FEA/CFD analyses, and driving prototype builds and tests. A TS clearance is preferred along with hands‑on modeling and coding experience in Python or MATLAB.

Qualifications

• MS or higher degree in mechanical/aerospace with a focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• Strong fundamentals in heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• 2–4 years in thermal design, analysis, or testing for electronics or integrated hardware.
• Familiarity with electronics cooling concepts — TIMs, heatsinks, heat pipes, enclosure heat rejection.
• Experience with at least one thermal FEA/CFD tool — STAR‑CCM+, ANSYS, Icepak, FloEFD, or COMSOL.
• CAD experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the thermal design and analysis of electronics—from board and component level up through enclosures and full assemblies.
• Use first principles and models to guide design before detailed work.
• Define thermal architecture and heat-rejection paths to meet temperature limits across environments.
• Establish operating conditions for platforms including altitude, humidity, solar load, and wearables.
• Collaborate with engineers to document power dissipation across modes.
• Present thermal status in reviews and communicate timelines and status.
• Develop internal tools to improve analysis efficiency.
• Support failure reviews with data and thermal analysis.
• Execute prototype builds and testing to verify designs.
