Job Summary and Mission:

The Lead Technician Engineering is responsible for the construction, assembly, calibration and runoff of High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) thermal spray coating systems. In addition, this position will provide remote and onsite customer support, as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to construction, assembly, troubleshooting, repair, calibration and runoff of HVOF systems with minimal to no supervision.
  • Construct basic electrical control panels, load PLC programs and debug as needed.
  • Calibrate mass flow controllers using manufacturers application software.
  • Form steel tubing, install fittings and leak check complete system.
  • Setup, calibrate, runoff and tear down system for shipment.
  • Work with our engineering department to implement updates and design changes to mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Communicate ideas and design changes to our engineering department.
  • Communicate with customers on equipment issues.
  • Maintain user manuals and documentation using MS word.
  • Must follow safety procedures, recommended practices and comply with plant safety programs, and be able to work safely with combustible gases such as Hydrogen and Propylene.
  • Possibility of travel to customers site to perform training and calibrations. The travel in this position is limited – up to 25%.
  • Assist in the development of thermal spray coatings when possible.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.
  • Required Skills:
    • High school diploma or general equivalent diploma.
    • 3-5 years experience with mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, PLC’s and electro-mechanical devices.
    • Ability to read and comprehend Schematics, construct control panels, Multi-Meter Utilization,3 phase and Single-phase systems, PLC & Ladder Logic programming and troubleshooting, Soldering, Power tool usage capability.
    • Work from prints, sketches, schematics, vender equipment manuals or verbal instruction.
    • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 33 lbs.
    • Able to work safely with combustible gases such as Hydrogen and Propylene.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office
    • Solid communication skills
    • Ability to obtain a passport

Preferred Areas of Education, Certifications, and Skills:

    • Associate’s degree or equivalent in MET, EET, a plus
    • Knowledge / experience with HVOF or wear coatings, a plus
    • OMRON / Siemens PLC programming, a plus
