Arconic is currently in search of Thermal & Combustion Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Technology Engineering team based out of Alcoa, TN or Davenport, IA or Lancaster, PA.

Primary Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Technology Engineering team provides technical, business, customer, and financial support to Arconic’s Global Rolled Products and Extrusions business units. The team comprises specialists in various technologies and engineering disciplines, from melting metal to final fabrication.

The Thermal & Combustion Process Engineer is responsible for being the corporate expert on Combustion Safety, developing and deploying Thermal Best Practices, solving systemic and plant-specific problems, driving process efficiencies, training operators and technologists, and implementing new technologies.

Key Objectives

  • Optimize process equipment to improve quality and capacity.
  • Solve equipment and process problems for Thermal Processes.
  • Lead problem-solving teams to resolve chronic issues; organize support from other resources when needed.
  • Develop and deploy Standard Practices for Thermal and Combustion Safety processes, identify improvement opportunities, and facilitate technology transfer.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors of thermal and combustion equipment and stay informed of external developments.
  • Support large capital improvement projects with engineering and operational expertise.
  • Sponsor, participate in, and occasionally lead development projects.
  • Provide advice and direction on capital and process solutions to plant resources.
  • Participate in technical assessments of facilities and equipment.
  • Provide training on equipment, controls, and processes.
  • Navigation of Rockwell PLCs for troubleshooting is a plus.
  • The position requires extensive travel (~50%), including international travel.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in Thermal and Combustion Safety.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Access to controlled technology as per export regulations; relevant authorizations may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize based on business needs.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Rockwell PLCs.
