Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a rehabilitation support staff member to provide routine rehab activities under the supervision of licensed therapists. The role includes assisting with patient transfers and daily gym sanitation, while promoting safety and high-quality care across patient populations.

Responsibilities include communicating with patients and team members, delivering direct patient care, and supporting group therapy services.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, team members and other professionals for the purpose of sharing information that will assist in achieving optimum care for the patient.
• Establishes effective rapport with patients of all ages.
• Administers direct patient care related activities and assists a licensed physical, occupational or speech therapist following demonstration of competency in each area.
• Assists licensed therapists in providing group therapy services in physical PT, OT and/or Speech.
• Communicates potential patient problems or observations of change in patient behavior to the attending therapist.
• Performs daily sanitation of gym areas. Cleans equipment, tables, mats and other areas of patient contact.
• Promotes patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participates in safety initiatives as requested.
• Participates in the continuous quality improvement proects.
• Follows appropriate safety and infection control measures pertaining to patient care equipment and the general working environment.
• Promptly reports any problems to immediate supervisor.
• Actively participates in departmental meetings, in-services and continuing education programs.
• Complies with organizational and departmental patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Routinely meets the needs and expectations of patient and families.
• Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and follows through with appropriate repair procedures.
• Completes competencies in a timely manner.
