Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking a certified Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week assignment on the third shift. The role involves delivering pediatric and adult respiratory care, ventilator support, and related procedures in a high-acuity setting.

The position requires a valid respiratory therapy license and appropriate certifications, with strong communication and patient-care skills. Responsibilities include emergency response, airway management, and education of patients and families.

Qualifications

• Must have valid license to practice respiratory therapy in the facility location.
• Mandatory NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification; BLS/ACLS/PALS or NRP as applicable.
• Excellent communication and ability to deliver patient care in high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency situations (code blue/rapid response).
• Provides patient support in high-risk deliveries and care of newborns.
• Performs airway management and care/maintenance of endotracheal/tracheostomy tubes.
• Manages invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support and adjusts settings for optimal outcomes.
• Assists with advanced procedures (ETT insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy).
• Administers provider-prescribed therapies (nebulizers, MDI) and educates patients and families.

Description:The certified respiratory therapist assesses, treats, and monitors patients with respiratory diseases and conditions.This includes the delivery of medicated and non-medicated therapy as ordered by the provider.Additionally, therapists provide invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilator support for acute respiratory failure.As part of patient assessment and management, the therapist performs diagnostic test procedures.Therapists assist in departmental operations by contributing to quality improvement projects, equipment management, and supply needs.The certified therapist follows all applicable rules and regulations established by the licensure board.

Job Responsibilities:Responds to emergency situations, including code blue and rapid response situations.Provides appropriate patient support in high-risk delivery situations, including care of compromised newborns.Performs airway management, including care and maintenance of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes.Assesses and monitors patients on invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support, adjusting parameters for optimal outcomes.Performs and/or assists with advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal tube insertion, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy.Performs provider-prescribed medicated therapy including small volume nebulizer and metered dose inhaler, adhering to safe medication administration standards.Conducts provider-prescribed therapeutic procedures such as chest physiotherapy and positive expiratory pressure therapy.Provides oxygen therapy, adjusting as necessary for patient needs and provider orders.Completes patient assessments and shares appropriate recommendations with providers.Educates patients and significant others on therapy, respiratory diseases, and medications.

Specially trained therapists complete pulmonary function testing, maintaining national standards.They perform neurodiagnostic studies such as electroencephalograms as ordered.Therapists also conduct cardiac testing such as 12-lead electrocardiograms and Holter monitoring.They perform arterial and capillary blood gas sampling and analyze laboratory tests such as blood gases.Therapists document patient assessments and therapy in medical records.They provide verbal reports for ongoing care and shared decision-making.Education is provided to peers and students.Therapists participate in departmental communication and quality improvement initiatives.They attend and contribute to departmental meetings and communicate concerns to departmental leadership.

Equipment management involves cleaning and preparing equipment for use, ensuring proper functionality.Therapists evaluate and communicate equipment and supply needs effectively.
