Job description

Overview

The therapist leads the collaboration among an interdisciplinary team to develop, coordinate, and facilitate direct social services interventions for patients on their caseload and their support systems. The therapist uses empirically supported therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), or family therapy, to stabilize and support individuals with mental and behavioral health concerns. The therapist creates a safe, supportive environment where patients gain insight into the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and work toward goals. The Therapist may perform other duties as directed by the manager/clinical operations supervisor to support direct patient care and system initiatives. The Therapist will work in an acute care setting that includes inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and/or intensive outpatient services.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address patients\' specific needs and goals.
  • Assess patients\' needs through comprehensive assessments to identify mental health concerns, strengths, and challenges.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and provide guidance in implementing clinical interventions, including facilitating treatment team meetings.
  • Provide counseling and support using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help patients manage symptoms and improve well-being within sessions and in the milieu as needed.
  • Educate patients about their mental health and/or substance use conditions, self-care strategies, and treatment options to support engagement and aftercare planning.
  • Document patient progress with detailed records of therapy sessions, goals, and interventions; complete all documentation within required timeframes.
  • Collaborate with other professionals (internally and externally) to coordinate care and achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on current research and best practices in mental health.
  • Report and document suspected cases of physical, sexual abuse and/or neglect according to law and system policy.
  • Maintain professional conduct and demonstrate strong interdisciplinary collaboration across departments.
  • Support staffing and scheduling changes as program and patient care needs require.
  • Participate in clinical initiatives and system-wide continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with Joint Commission, state, and regulatory agency requirements; prioritize patient safety and facility safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining knowledge of department processes and participating in committees as needed.
Education & Experience
  • Master\'s Degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, or related field from an accredited program; healthcare and psychiatric setting experience preferred.
  • At minimum, in-training licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-IT), Marriage and Family Therapist Training License (MFT-TL), Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW), or equivalent in the practicing state.
  • If required by the program, SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC credentials in Wisconsin; substance use specialty authorization applicable to the hiring state.
  • Working knowledge of therapeutic interventions for all age groups and an understanding of human growth and behavior.
Required on-the-job Training
  • Compliance with Residential Care Center (RCC) and Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) requirements (required for residential inpatient programs, preferred for all levels of care).
  • American Heart Association CPR certification within 30 days of hire; bi-annual re-certification required.
  • Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within 60 days of hire/transfer; annual re-certification required.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services relevant to the position.
  • Meet all educational requirements and regulatory obligations associated with program/unit licensing.
  • Residential programs: must hold a current, active driver\'s license in good standing (preferred for all levels of care).
Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: PRN – as needed coverage when clinics are open (Mon–Fri). No set hours or consistent days.

New Employee Retention Bonuses: $5,000 (in-training licensure) and $10,000 (fully licensed).

New Employee is defined as someone who has not been employed with Rogers for more than six months.
