Job summary

The Heart Hospital in Plano, TX is seeking a PRN Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients recovering from cardiac surgery and other complex cardiovascular conditions in an acute care setting.

In this role you will join a fast-paced inpatient rehab team, collaborating with patients and families to restore function and independence. Acute care experience is preferred; BLS certification is required or within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Licensure/registration requirements are as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, treats and monitors patients in acute care.
  • Administers therapy plans and documents progress in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with patients, families, and care teams to meet goals.
  • Supervises students or interns as assigned.
  • Maintains clinical skills through ongoing education and evidence-based practice.

We are seeking a highly motivated PRN Occupational Therapist to join our team at The Heart Hospital in Plano, TX. In this position you will evaluate and treat patients recovering from cardiac surgery, heart failure, and other complex cardiovascular conditions, with a focus on improving functional independence and quality of life. The ideal candidate will have acute care experience, adaptability, and a strong interest in working with medically complex patients in fast-paced environments.

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist PRN plans, organizes, and provides professional services in therapeutic programs. Clinical practice includes evaluation and therapy planning to help rehabilitate disabled individuals. Works closely with patients and family to meet treatment goals.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Evaluates, treats and monitors patient. Modifies therapy program and goals.
  • Performs thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner. Enters charges accurately.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and the medical care team. Provides education to patients, family, and staff.
  • Supervises ancillary staff, students and volunteers.
  • Advances clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Imparts knowledge to develop the clinical skills of colleagues. Adheres to organizational, national, and state regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains awareness of system goals. Aligns personal goals and work activities to uphold or impact the system goals.

  • Must possess excellent social relation skills to include excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate aptitude in assigned areas as specified for each clinician.
  • Exhibits proven synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team. Assures excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
  • High attention to detail in fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

  • EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
