Job summary

Meridell Achievement Center in Texas seeks a licensed Therapist to join our compassionate treatment team. You will develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans for youth ages 10–17 with emotional, behavioral, and neurobehavioral challenges, working closely with patients and families to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Requirements include a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or mental health counseling and a current Texas

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or a similar educational degree is required.
  • Two years post-licensure experience, advanced training or certification in evidence-based practices such as EMDR, CBT, or DBT is preferred.
  • Current Texas license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMSW, LMFT-A, or LPC-A) and a valid driver license are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized therapy and support to help youth 10–17 overcome challenges.
  • Lead psychoeducation and process groups for patients and families.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and aftercare dispositions for seamless transitions.
  • Serve as liaison between treatment team and families/community stakeholders.
  • Document progress notes and treatment plans in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in weekly treatment team staffings and meetings.

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

As a Therapist at Meridell Achievement Center, you'll be part of a dynamic and compassionate treatment team dedicated to providing exceptional care to children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and neurobehavioral challenges. You'll play a crucial role in developing and implementing individualized therapeutic plans, working closely with patients, and families to achieve remarkable outcomes. Hours will be 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.

Education/Training
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or a similar educational degree required.
Experience
  • Two years post-licensure experience, advanced training or certification in an evidence-based practice such as EMDR, CBT, or DBT
  • One year of clinical experience in RTC setting
  • One year of group facilitation experience
  • Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current State of Texas license as a PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMSW, LMFT-A, or LPC-A, obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
  • Current driver license.
