Job description

Psychotherapist (LMSW)

W2 Employee Hourly Hybrid (In-Person Required in New York City)

About InnerMost

InnerMost is a psychedelic-therapy center shaping the future of mental health care, bringing clinical services, research trials, therapist training, and community programming together under one roof in the heart of Manhattan. We are growing at a pivotal moment: psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is moving from the fringes of mental health care into the mainstream, and we are committed to raising the bar for what safe, evidence-based, and truly patient-centered care in this space looks like.

Our therapeutic ethos, Interventional Psychotherapy, uses ketamine, Spravato, and other psychoactive agents to push psychotherapy toward root-cause healing — drawing on the neuroplasticity these agents induce, the psychological material that surfaces during the experience itself, and, with ketamine and Spravato specifically, their immediate antidepressant effects. Together, this allows for a depth and pace of change that talk therapy or medication alone often cannot reach, helping many patients — including those who have been in treatment for years — get meaningfully unstuck within a matter of months, with the right support to carry that progress forward.

We partner with deeply committed, heart-centered clinicians who put patients first in every interaction. Our team leads with warmth, operates with integrity, and genuinely cares about the people they work with — patients and colleagues alike — listening to and learning from each other as we go.

About the Role

As a Psychotherapist at InnerMost, you will hold the primary therapeutic relationship for the patients on your caseload, guiding them through preparation, the psychedelic experience itself, and integration in a way that supports lasting change. You will work closely with prescribers, nurses, and the care coordination team, so that each patient experiences a single, coherent course of care rather than a set of disconnected appointments.

We are looking first and foremost for a genuinely great therapist: someone with real clinical skill, strong presence in the room, and the judgment to know when a case needs more support. Training or familiarity with psychedelic-assisted therapy is a meaningful plus, but the therapeutic fundamentals come first.

This role is currently open to LMSWs working toward full licensure. You will receive regular clinical supervision as part of your caseload and continue building toward independent practice while working within a supportive, multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care
  • Conduct individual psychotherapy sessions, including preparation and integration sessions connected to patients' ketamine and Spravato treatments, and psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT)
  • Build a strong, trusting therapeutic alliance with each patient, creating a safe space for people navigating a vulnerable and often intense treatment process
  • Exercise sound clinical judgment throughout a patient's course of care, adjusting your approach as their needs evolve
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while remaining warm, present, and genuinely engaged with each patient
2. Caseload & Clinical Hours
  • Maintain a minimum of 20 patient-facing clinical hours per week; therapists able to take on up to 30 patient-facing hours per week are strongly preferred
  • Manage your caseload and schedule reliably, ensuring patients are seen consistently and on time
  • Stay organized across a caseload that includes patients at different stages of preparation, treatment, and integration
3. Multidisciplinary Care Team Coordination
  • Coordinate closely with prescribers and nurses on shared patients, so that psychotherapy and medical treatment reinforce each other
  • Know when to escalate a case to the prescriber or care team, and do so promptly when clinically indicated
  • Communicate relevant updates to the care team in a timely way, so handoffs stay smooth and the patient's experience feels seamless
  • Participate actively in an interdisciplinary team, contributing your clinical perspective to shared patient care
4. Supervision & Clinical Documentation
  • Attend weekly clinical supervision (approximately 1–2 hours per week) as part of your path toward full licensure
  • Attend clinical and ops team meetings (approximately 1.5–2 hours per week)
  • Document sessions and clinical observations accurately and promptly in the EHR
  • Maintain clean, reliable clinical records that the broader care team can trust and act on

  • Comfortable working with EHRs
  • Genuinely energized by working as part of an interdisciplinary clinical team, not solely in an individual practice model
