  • Must be eligible for and maintain credentials to participate in Medicaid and private insurance provider panels.
  • Strong direct service professional skills, including client-centered, strength-based therapy, empowering others, and maintaining professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy services.
  • Provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families; manage caseloads and meet minimum direct service expectations; complete paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Engage clients in treatment plans that lead to positive outcomes and utilize evidenced-based interventions.

Job Details

Job Location: Children Square Campus - Council Bluffs, IA 51503

Job Purpose: Provide mental health therapy to children and families to promote optimum mental and emotional health. Therapy assessment, intervention, and support will address the impact of trauma and healthy relationships.

Essential Job Duties
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy services.
  • Provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and families. Manage caseloads and meet minimum direct service expectations. Complete paperwork including progress notes, reports, assessments, service plans and discharge summaries on a timely basis according to agency and licensing standards.
  • Effectively engage clients in treatment plans that result in positive outcomes for clients.
  • Effectively utilize evidenced-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborate with community partners to meet the needs of children.
  • Complete service and billing documentation on a timely basis according to program standards.
  • Participate in consultation and supervision sessions as required.
  • Collect statistics and implement Continual Quality Improvement procedures as required.
Other Duties
  • Drive to and from home and school-based appointments.
  • Provide community parties with education on parent/child relationships, trauma/attachment issues, abuse/neglect issues, intervention techniques and other related topics.
  • Complete training necessary for position and for professional growth.
  • Facilitate a team atmosphere by working in partnership with other agency staff and by promoting a positive working environment.
  • Represent the agency and programs in a positive manner to clients, community organizations and the public, in general.
  • Show flexibility with regard to work schedule; evening and weekend work is required.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

    • Commitment to empowering others to achieve healthy problem-solving skills,
    • Demonstration of a belief in a person’s ability to change and grow,
    • Understanding and maintenance of clear professional boundaries, with sensitivity to the vulnerabilities of those served,
    • Ability to collaborate with coworkers and other service providers,
    • Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients, families, co-workers, colleagues, and community stakeholders and,
    • Commitment to follow the ethics of the profession and comply with all laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures that govern therapeutic practice.
  • Required knowledge of:
    • Family and individual counseling.
    • The child welfare system; and,
    • The process of advocating for families and children involved in the child welfare system.
  • Preferred knowledge of evidenced based practices including:
    • Attachment Theory
    • Trauma Theory
    • Parent Child Interaction Therapy
    • Child-Parent Psychotherapy
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Trauma Focused and Alternatives for Families)
    • Circle of Security, and
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Vehicle Requirements
  • Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points.
  • Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements.
Environment
  • Majority of work is in combination of office and community-based environments. Additional work may be performed in a variety of settings to meet client needs.
  • Hours/schedule will vary and will include evening and weekend hours.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended period.
  • Ability to type and perform other office skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to respond to on-call needs.
