Job summary

Salem Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the Therapeutic Support Program at Collins Middle School in Salem, MA. You will collaborate with administrators and a team of SPED staff to create a therapeutic setting for students on IEPs with social and emotional disabilities, designing engaging experiences and supporting students in the general education setting.

You will need Massachusetts teaching certification in Special Education, a Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred),

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Massachusetts Special Education certification/licensure required.
• Experience with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish a welcoming learning environment for students with social/emotional disabilities.
• Design engaging learning experiences and support students in general education settings.
• Develop and monitor IEP goals and contribute to transition planning where applicable.
• Collaborate with administrators, staff, families, and community agencies to improve student outcomes.
• Supervise paraprofessionals and ensure accommodations are delivered per IEPs.
