Job summary

Lifepoint Behavioral Health is seeking a Recreational Therapist to join our Jefferson Regional Specialty Hospital team in the United States. The role focuses on structured evaluations, treatment planning, and coordinating therapeutic recreation activities to support patient recovery.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assess progress, update plans weekly, and assist in discharge planning while educating patients and families about leisure resources in the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification.
• One year experience in Recreational Therapy in a hospital setting preferred.
• Experience in treatment planning and implementation highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment and establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.
• Pre-certify patient care.
• Conduct ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.
• Evaluate each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.
• Formulate a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment date from the interdisciplinary assessment.
• Update treatment plan weekly or more often as needed.
• Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.
• Assist with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards.
• Provide patients and patients' families with information regarding leisure lifestyles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.
