Job summary

Lifepoint Behavioral Health is seeking a Recreational Therapist to join our team at Jefferson Regional Specialty Hospital. You will perform assessments, develop and update treatment plans, and coordinate group recreational activities to support patient recovery and socialization.

The role involves pre-certifying care, ongoing reviews, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and plan for discharge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification.
• One year of experience in Recreational Therapy in a hospital setting preferred.
• Experience in treatment planning and implementation highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment and establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.
• Pre-certify patient care.
• Conduct ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.
• Evaluate each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.
• Formulate a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment data from the interdisciplinary assessment.
• Update treatment plan weekly or more often as needed.
• Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.
• Assist with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards.
• Provide patients and patients' families with information regarding leisure lifestyles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy

How you'll contribute

A Recreational Therapistwho excels in this role:

Will perform structured evaluations and develop a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselors using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related fields. Additional requirements include:

• Master's Degree preferred.
• Therapeutic recreation Specialist Certification.
• One (1) year experience in Recreational Therapy in a hospital setting is preferred.
• Experience in treatment planning and implementation highly desirable.
