Job summary

The Long Island State Veterans Home seeks a Recreational Therapy Associate to provide regular contact with residents through individual and group activities and to assist in creating programming that meets intellectual, emotional, and social needs.

You will establish and promote therapeutic recreation programs, monitor resident responses, coordinate with the care team, and ensure proper documentation and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Arts Therapy, Sociology, or a related human services field with a concentration in Art Therapy or Recreation. Experience working with geriatric, rehabilitation, behavioral health, or long-term care populations.

Responsibilities

• Establish a functional recreation program with a therapeutic approach.
• Promote, plan and carry out full recreation programs.
• Monitor and evaluate resident response to program inclusion and resident safety.
• Interface with other team members towards comprehensive resident care.
• Monitor all documentation in a timely manner for 60 Residents
• Maintain supply inventory.
• Attend Corporate Compliance training and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Corporate Compliance Program.
