Job summary

New York State Department of Health seeks a Recreation Therapist to plan and conduct therapeutic activities for residents at the Montrose facility as part of a treatment team. You will take part in MDS, care plans, and initial assessments, while observing and documenting behavioral changes to support positive mental, physical, and social outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, or
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education with one year of therapeutic recreation planning experience, or
• CTRS credential or NYS Creative Arts Therapist licensure.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct activities for resident groups and work individually as part of a treatment team.
• Participate in MDS, care plans and complete initial resident assessments.
• Observe and document behavior changes, and collaborate with other Recreation Therapists in all activity programs; aim to bring positive changes in mental, physical and social behavior.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation

Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education + 1 year experience in therapeutic recreation

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

Creative Arts Therapist licensure (NYS)
