Description
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of recreation programming, customer service, and administrative support for special needs populations for the County.
Examples of Duties
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of related experience in therapeutic recreation or working with special needs populations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in a related field and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification are preferred.
Licenses or Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Special Requirements: None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Physical Demands
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word, and close visual acuity. Must be able to run with individuals during programs and ensure their safety while running.
Work Environment
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and may require standing for extended periods. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, violence, disease, pathogenic substances, or rude/irate customers.
