Qualifications

• Three or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting.
• Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and implement activity therapy programs as part of the patient’s treatment plan.
• Complete activity assessment through observation and interviews to develop and implement the treatment plan.
• Plan, organize, direct and implement activities to facilitate patient progress toward treatment goals.
• Instruct patients in activities and techniques (sports, dance, art, relaxation) to meet needs.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities to improve mental and physical well-being and social skills.
• Modify activities to suit different groups and patient needs.
• Demonstrate empathy, professionalism and address patient concerns and safety.
