Job summary

Goodwin Living in Falls Church, VA, is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator to design and run engaging programs for residents in Assisted Living. You’ll implement activities aligned with six dimensions of wellness, support documentation, and participate in care planning conferences with the AL team.

The role requires CTRS certification (preferred), at least two years of experience with older adults, strong communication skills, and comfort with basic word processing.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skill required.
• Minimum of two years’ previous experience in recreation programming for older adults.
• Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
• Must have computer skills in basic word processing.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with others.

Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate a therapeutic recreation program of daily group activities, 1:1 visits, excursions, and events.
• Draft and oversee monthly programming calendar.
• Complete attendance documentation and other required records on time.
• Monitor resident progress and adjust programs based on goals and interests.
• Stay informed of advances in the field and report to supervisor.
• Orient and supervise volunteers with guidance and encouragement.
• Attend Plan of Care conferences and relevant meetings with the Assisted Living Administrator.
