Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Abilene is seeking an Activity Coordinator to assist in providing structured therapeutic recreational activities under the supervision of the CTRS, supporting patient progress in treatment.

You will help plan individual and group activities, participate in the treatment team, document in medical records, and communicate with patients and families while upholding safety and cultural sensitivity.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate the knowledge to provide care appropriate to age-related disability and patient needs.
• CPR certification and Oceans approved behavioral de-escalation program required.
• 1 year of inpatient psychiatric patient experience preferred.
• Certificate of completion from an accredited Activities Training Program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing therapeutic recreational activities under CTRS supervision.
• Plan and conduct individual and group activities as assigned by CTRS.
• Participate as an active member of the treatment team and report on patients.
• Document timely in the medical record.
• Communicate with patients and families with sensitivity to age/disability/culture.
• Identify safety, psychosocial, and equipment needs under CTRS direction.
• Assist in discharge planning considering patient needs and support system.
• Respond to inquiry calls and assist in chart audits.
• Assist in planning and conducting individual and group therapy as ordered.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
