Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital in Kentwood, LA, seeks an Activity Coordinator to assist in delivering therapeutic recreational activities under the supervision of the CTRS. You will help plan and run individual and group activities, contributing to treatment goals within Joint Commission and state regulations.

You will document progress in the medical record, communicate with patients and families in a culturally sensitive manner, and support discharge planning under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience with psychiatric inpatients preferred.
• Certificate of completion from an accredited Activities Training Program preferred.
• Ability to assess data and provide age-related and culturally sensitive care.
• CPR certification and Oceans approved de-escalation program required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing therapeutic recreational activities under CTRS supervision.
• Assist in planning and conducting individual and group activities as assigned by CTRS.
• Participate as an active treatment-team member and report on assigned patients.
• Document in the medical record in a timely manner.
• Communicate with patients and families in an age/disability/culturally sensitive manner.
• Identify safety, psychosocial, mobility and equipment needs under CTRS direction.
• Assist in discharge planning respecting age/disability/cultural needs and family involvement.
• Respond to inquiries and assist in chart audits.
• Assist in planning and conducting individual and group therapy per orders.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
