Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Abilene is seeking an Activity Coordinator to support therapeutic recreation for adolescents, adults and seniors with mental health challenges. You will assist in planning and conducting individual and group activities under the supervision of the CTRS, documenting progress in the medical record and ensuring patient safety and engagement.

Requirements include a high school diploma, CPR certification and completion of an accredited Activities Training Program; at least

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with psychiatric patients in an inpatient setting.
• Certification in CPR and Oceans-approved behavioral de-escalation program is required.
• Ability to assess and respond to patient needs with sensitivity to age, disability, and culture.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing therapeutic recreational activities under CTRS supervision.
• Plan and conduct individual and group activities as assigned by CTRS.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and report on patients' progress.
• Document timely in the medical record.
• Communicate with patients and families in a sensitive manner.
• Identify safety, mobility, and equipment needs under CTRS direction.
• Assist in discharge planning considering age and cultural needs.
• Support chart audits and respond to inquiries.
• Assist in planning/leading individual and group therapies as ordered.
• Perform other duties as needed.
