Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation staff member to assist with inpatient psychiatric activities and patient engagement. You will plan and lead individual and group sessions under CTRS supervision, documenting progress and ensuring safety in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires high school completion, CPR and de-escalation training, and strong communication and teamwork to support patient care and discharge planning in an adult/geriatric population.

Qualifications

• Must understand therapeutic recreation principles and patient care needs.
• Ability to assess patient status and adapt activities for age groups.
• Experience with psychiatric inpatients preferred.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required.
• Excellent communication and group facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct individual and group therapeutic recreation activities.
• Assist in treatment planning and participation in team meetings.
• Document timely in medical records and report patient progress.
• Support discharge planning with input from the treatment team.
• Identify safety and equipment needs under supervision.
• Respond to inquiries and assist with chart audits.
