This role supports the development and execution of therapeutic recreational services for residents, under supervision, ensuring high-quality programming in a warm, family-oriented environment.

Requirements include a valid TRD credential, a vehicle and driver's license, and the ability to rotate weekend recreation activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of a full range of recreational programs for all residents, considering physical and emotional needs.
• Observe residents' religious days, events, and holidays when planning activities.
• Encourage resident participation and tailor activities to individual functioning levels.
• Ensure Residents' Bill of Rights is observed and report any concerns to supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality of Resident Council minutes and care plans.

Therapeutic Recreation Assistant (TRD)

Responsibilities:

Working the Director of Therapeutic Recreations, the Therapeutic Recreation Assistant assists in the development and execution of therapeutic recreational services to all residents with supervision in accordance with federal, state and local standards. Helps ensure the highest quality recreation program is provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists in the development of a full range of therapeutic recreational programs and activities for all residents with appropriate concern for residents' physical and emotional limitations, and individual interests.
• Ensures observance of religious days, social events, national holidays and traditional celebrations when planning residents' calendar of events. Utilizes community support in establishing volunteer programs and intergenerational events.
• Encourages resident participation in therapeutic recreational activities. Carries out activities appropriate to resident's level of functioning.
• Knows and complies with the Residents' Bill of Rights. Through Resident Council, advises and instructs the residents on issues and changes pertaining to Residents Bill of Rights and their responsibilities.
• Maintains confidentiality and privacy in reporting of Resident Council minutes and care plan issues.
• Reports immediately to the supervisor all resident grievances and complaints.
• Fosters feeling of self-worth and respect by treating residents with kindness and understanding.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have a vehicle and a valid drivers' license and a safe driving record.
• Ability to provide rotating weekend coverage of recreation activities.
• Must have TRD

Preferred Qualifications

• Possess at least one year experience in rehabilitative or geriatric setting.
