Job summary

Active Day in Merrillville, IN is seeking Program Assistants to support members with daily living activities and participate in planning therapeutic recreational programs. You will help with meals, monitor safety, and assist with maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred or 2 years relevant experience.
• At least one-year full-time equivalent experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist members with activities of daily living and personal care as needed (e.g. arrival and departure, eating, ambulation, transferring, therapies, rest room assistance, etc.).
• Assist in planning and facilitation of creative and diverse therapeutic recreational programs and encourage member participation.
• Serve meals and snacks and clear tables; assist with feeding as needed.
• Observe members for change in condition or unusual occurrences; escalate concerns as appropriate.
• Maintain program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring all are clean, disinfected, stocked, replenished and in good working order.
• Ensure the safety of members by monitoring activities, keeping a sanitary, clutter-free environment, and participating in safety training; contribute to a clean, orderly center.
• Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service educational programs; collaborate with cross-functional team and provide feedback for enhancing member experience.
• Comply with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
• Other duties and responsibilities as changed or assigned at any time.
