Qualifications

• Professional experience in Therapeutic Recreation or Creative Arts Therapy or an associate’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Minimum of two years of Behavioral Health experience.
• Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provides recreation therapy groups designed to assist the patients in developing knowledge and skills needed for independent leisure/social activities.
• Provides assistance to the Creative Arts Therapy staff designed to help patients acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for independent leisure/social involvement, adjustment in the community, decision‑making ability and appropriate use of free time.
• Is competent to monitor and document the extent to which patient goals are achieved relative to the use of leisure time and acquisition of socialization skills.
• Assists the Creative Arts Therapists in providing treatment designed to improve the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical functional behavioral as necessary prerequisites to future leisure/social involvement.
• Assists patients in learning skills regarding appropriate and helpful use of free time.
