Job summary

Rockaway Care Center is seeking an organized Recreation Activities Aide to support the director of activities in delivering therapeutic and recreational programs for residents. You will assess needs, implement plans of care, and help residents engage in meaningful activities in assigned areas.

The role requires a high school diploma and experience in long-term care; candidates should read, write, and speak English proficiently and work well with staff, residents, and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in long term care or health care institute preferred.
• Working knowledge of state and federal regulations.
• Must be able to read, speak, write and understand the English Language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents and family members.
• Must possess the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
• Must possess patient, tact and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents, if necessary.
• Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development.
• Ability to recognize and later describe persons associated with nursing homes safety and security.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the director of activities, carries out recreational programs in assigned areas.
• Assess resident needs; follow through on plan of care and carry out therapeutic programs.
