Job summary

Wheaton Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton, IL is seeking a Recreation Aide to support residents with mental health needs through physical, creative, cognitive, social, spiritual, and community activities.

The role reports to the Recreation Director; requires a high school degree and certification per regulatory agencies. You will lead groups, provide one-on-one visits, document participation, and help transport residents to programs.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center.
• Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Provide interactive and enjoyable activities for residents.
• Play games, craft, and take residents on outings.
• Visit residents’ rooms for one-on-one engagement.
• Lead small, medium, and large groups.
• Document daily participation of residents.
• Assist in transporting residents to and from recreation programs.
• Assist residents with participation in religious programs.
• Assist residents with leisure recreation.
• Attend appropriate in-service training programs.
• Assist in maintenance, storage, and use of recreation supplies.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed by the Recreation Director.

Position Summary: The Recreation Aide is needed for a skilled and intermediate care facility. We serve clients with mental health needs who have aged with their chronic illness. Recreation services will include physical, creative, cognitive, social, spiritual, and community programs in accordance with customers’ needs.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• The activity aide will be responsible for providing interactive and enjoyable activities.
• Play games, craft, and take residents out for out trips.
• Visit residents’ room for one on one.
• Lead small, medium, and large groups.
• Document daily recording of resident’s participation.
• Assists in transporting customers to and from recreation programs.
• Assists customers with participation in religious programs.
• Assists customers with leisure recreation.
• Attends appropriate in-service training programs.
• Assists in the maintenance, storage, and use of the recreation department supplies.
• Performs other responsibilities as directed by the Recreation Director.

Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements:

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center.
