Job summary

The Arbour Counseling Services is hiring a Therapeutic Mentor to join our Community Support Program in Boston, MA. You will work with youth under 21 with mental health or behavioral challenges, providing one-on-one, strength-based support as part of a clinical treatment team.

Experience in youth services and a valid MA driver’s license are required. This full-time, in-person role offers mileage reimbursement, weekly supervision, and growth opportunities within our behavioral health programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Psychology or related field with at least 1 year of experience working with youth and families
• Massachusetts driver's license required
• Daily access to a registered and insured vehicle
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to independently plan and organize one’s schedule and client services
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Bilingual applicants encouraged
• Must pass CORI and drug test, and other pre-employment documentation
• Optional weekends

Responsibilities

• Meet with youth in the community for skill-building on an individual basis
• Coordinate with youth’s therapist and guardian to help achieve treatment goals
• Help youth build coping, life, social, behavior and emotion management skills
• Implement therapeutic interventions per therapist treatment plan
• Coordinate care with collateral contacts
• Provide telephone coaching and support to youth as needed
• Document all meetings and collateral contacts
• Attend weekly staff/department meetings and supervision

About The Role

Want to make a difference in children’s lives and in the community? Become a Therapeutic Mentor with Arbour Counseling Services! Our team of Therapeutic Mentors help youth under the age of 21 with mental health or behavioral challenges to develop specific independent life skills as a part of a clinical treatment team.

Our Therapeutic Mentors offer structured, one-on-one, strength-based support, modeling and training in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and relating appropriately to other youth or adults, all while doing fun activities in the community! Services can take place in parks, basketball courts, libraries, animal shelters, museums, malls and any other place/activity that may peak the youth’s interest.

Essential Responsibilities
