Job summary

Heritage Schools, Inc. seeks an Equine Instructor to deliver therapeutic riding and horsemanship for youth in a residential setting. You will teach lessons, support therapy sessions with therapists, and care for horses daily while mentoring students toward confidence and growth.

Responsibilities include safety-first instruction, horse care, collaboration with the Equestrian Manager, and promoting a positive learning environment across seasons.

Qualifications

• Experience with horse care and riding instruction.
• Path Intl./CHA/Parelli or similar certification preferred.
• Must be 21 years or older and able to work year-round outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach therapeutic riding lessons and horsemanship to students.
• Partner with therapists to support equine therapy sessions.
• Ensure health, safety, and daily care of horses (feeding, grooming, stalls).
• Prepare horses, tack and equipment for lessons; maintain a safe environment.
• Supervise students in the barn and model safe horse-handling practices.
• Build positive relationships to encourage student growth and support treatment goals.
• Report facility or horse health concerns promptly.
• Support overall operation of the equestrian program and assist with duties as needed.
