Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUHA) invites applications for a Therapeutic Assistant role supporting patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This position involves assisting with admissions/discharges, ensuring safety, and aiding daily living activities as part of the multidisciplinary treatment plan.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or higher, with BLS certification within 2 weeks of hire and TACT/First Aid training within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Therapeutic Assistant I - High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Therapeutic Assistant II - Bachelor's degree in Human Services or closely related field, or high school diploma and 1 year of experience in behavioral health or related healthcare required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 2 weeks of hire and maintain BLS ongoing; TACT and First Aid within 6 months and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care as directed by the multidisciplinary treatment plan and daily assignment sheet.
• Assist with patient admission and discharge processes.
• Monitor and promote safety of the therapeutic environment and assist with activities of daily living.
• Support the therapeutic program.
