Job summary

Marklund in Elgin, IL seeks a Therapeutic Activity Aide to support residents with profound disabilities through engaging therapeutic activities and compassionate assistance with daily living tasks. This role operates as part of a dedicated care team within the Marklund Wasmond Center.

Qualifications

• Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.
• CNA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new vocational and recreational programs for residents.
• Promote active participation tailored to each resident’s abilities.
• Evaluate, select, and provide therapeutic equipment and materials.
• Maintain supplies for activities and outings.
• Transport clients, staff, and volunteers to approved community sites.
• Document activities accurately and timely.
• Uphold Marklund’s mission and values in all duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Marklund is seeking highly motivated and mission-centered individualsfor the position of Therapeutic Activity Aide at the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, IL. The hourly schedule is 1 PM - 9PM, five days a week. Candidates mustbe able to perform the essentialfunctions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements.

The hourly rate is $17.25/hr.

Who We Are:

Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential,educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens andadults with serious and profound developmental disabilities andspecial healthcare needs. With two residential locations – theMarklund Hyde Center in Geneva and the Marklund Wasmond Center inElgin, it is currently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund DaySchool offers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children andyoung adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on theautism spectrum. In addition, our Community Day Services program ateach site is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside atMarklund and those who come in from the community.

Responsibilities include:

• Participate in development of new vocational and recreationalprograms and processes, individual and small/large groups andspecial events.
• Promote active participation as appropriate and unique to eachclient and their function and potential abilities.
• Evaluate and provide creative therapeutic equipment, supplies andmaterials for clients, as needed.
• Maintain supplies needed for residential activities and community outings.
• Drive clients, staff and volunteers to and from pre-approvedcommunity outing sites.
• Document all activities and outings in an accurate and timely manner.
• Strive to consistently meet Marklund’s values and achieve themission statement goals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills

Qualifications:
