Job summary

UK King's Daughters in Ashland, KY is seeking a dedicated activities professional to provide therapeutic activities for residents and coordinate individual programs to support lifelong interests and overall well‑being.

You will plan and deliver individual, group, and bedside activities reflecting residents’ interests, adapt for cognitive impairment, and align with care plans and regulatory requirements to maintain a positive, engaging environment.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of healthcare/clinical experience (paid).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
• Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and supports residents’ needs, communicating relevant information to the department Manager.
• Develops and delivers individual, group, and bedside activities reflecting residents’ interests.
• Plans and coordinates activities in diverse locations, incorporating seasonal and special events.
• Maintains current knowledge of activity standards and applies them to quality in long-term care.
• Establishes and monitors criteria to meet established quality standards.
• Creates, posts, and distributes activity calendars to resident units and residents.
• Designs activities for cognitively impaired residents (music events, gross motor games, outdoor walks).
• Adapts activities to maximize participation with prompts, physical support, demonstrations, and hand-over-hand assistance.
• Collaborates with team to continually enhance the activity program via resident feedback and best practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
