Job summary

The Costume Technician at Texas Christian University supports Theatre TCU’s Costume Studio by constructing new costumes and altering rented, borrowed or stock costumes for theatre productions. You will also assist students with projects related to Theatre TCU productions and coursework.

Qualifications

Experience working with students in an educational setting.
Proficient in domestic and industrial sewing machines, sergers, blind hemmers, and industrial irons.
2 years’ experience as a pattern maker, cutter, stitcher, and tailor for theatrical costumes preferred.
Experience in theatre performance or theatre technology.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Costume Studio to construct and tailor costumes, make alterations, assist with fittings and/or repair of costumes, millinery, and shoes.
Supervise and assist students with sewing and costume construction projects.
Maintain a safe environment—monitor students for safe use of Costume Studio and classroom sewing machines, sergers, hemmers, and industrial irons.
Keep track of supplies and convey any needs to Costume Studio Manager.
Assist in duties for daily set-up and clean-up of the Costume Studio, dressing rooms, and classroom spaces.
