Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a part-time Costume Coordinator for the Theatre Department in the School of the Arts. The role involves general upkeep of the costume shop, daily operations, and mentorship of students in construction, fitting, and stock management, onsite at the W.E.

Singleton Center for the Performing Arts. Collaborate with faculty designers and technical staff to construct, alter, and fit garments for productions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with general upkeep and cleanliness of the costumeshop.
• Assist with enforcing safety compliance protocols for equipment and materials in the costume shop.
• Restocking and gaining familiarity with costume stock, including maintaining the cleanliness of the costume stock.
• Facilitating rentals of costume stock and tracking those rentals.
• Assisting the costume shop manager with any tasks needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Assist with the mentorship of students in the costume shop.
• Supporting VCU Theatre productions by collaborating with faculty designers, students, shop managers and technical staff to construct, alter, and fit garments for theatre productions.
