Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Choreographer for the high school spring theatrical production.
  • Develop and teach choreography that supports the artistic vision of the production and complements the musical and dramatic elements of the performance.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Music Director, Technical Director, and production staff to integrate choreography into rehearsals and performances.
  • Instruct students in dance technique, movement, stage presence, and performance skills appropriate to the production.
  • Plan and conduct choreography rehearsals while maintaining an organized and efficient rehearsal schedule.
  • Adapt choreography to accommodate varying student abilities while promoting safe movement practices.
  • Attend production meetings, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and all scheduled performances.
  • Supervise students during rehearsals and performances, ensuring compliance with district policies and safety procedures.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, confidence, and artistic growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

COMPENSATION & STIPEND SCHEDULE DISCLOSURE:

Compensation for this extra-duty/stipend assignment is governed by the stipend schedules, appendices, and active schedule addenda set forth in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the New Milford Board of Education and the CEA - New Milford. Placement on the stipend schedule (including step tier and rate) is determined by position classification and documented prior coaching or advisory experience in accordance with active district schedules.   • Stipend and extra-duty positions are supplemental assignments performed in addition to or outside of standard primary teaching responsibilities:
  • Primary District Educators: Active CEA bargaining unit members holding a stipend position retain all contractual health, medical, leave, and retirement benefits accrued through their primary full-time employment status under the CEA Collective Bargaining Agreement, including mandatory enrollment in the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement System (TRB).
  • Non-Certified / Unaffiliated Appointees: Individuals appointed to stipend roles who are not full-time certified staff members receive stipend compensation only and are not eligible for district health insurance, paid leave allotments, or TRB retirement contributions, except as mandated by Connecticut statute or specific contractual provision.
  • Family & Medical Leave: Job protection rights under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) apply to qualifying primary employment pursuant to statutory criteria.
