Miami Dade College is now accepting applications for Faculty, Theater - Scenic Design, Production Management, Technical Direction.

This faculty teaches theater courses in a professionally-focused curriculum for NWSA High School and Bachelor of Fine Arts college degree programs, teaching stagecraft, stage management, designing scenery and serving as production manager and technical director for five Mainstage productions.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Theatre or Drama.
Three years minimum teaching experience in a college or university setting.
Professional theater experience as a scenic designer, production manager, and technical director.
Flexibility to work a flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals, productions, and related activities.
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with students, faculty and staff.
Doctoral stipend is awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable.
Anticipated start date at beginning of Spring Semester 2027.

Responsibilities

Teach courses in stagecraft and stage management at the high school and college level.
Design scenery and plan construction/installation schedules for mainstage shows and other productions.
Schedule and lead production meetings; manage production calendars and budgets.
Maintain theater facilities, shop spaces, equipment, and inventory.
Promote safety in all activities involving students, staff, and patrons.
Serve as production manager for school events and oversee contracted designers and technicians.
Advise and recruit prospective students; participate in department and campus committees.
