Job summary

Out of the Box Thematics, an Off-Broadway nonprofit theater company based at St. Luke’s Theatre, seeks a Development Manager to build its contributed revenue program across individual donors, foundations, government and corporate partners.

You will lead outreach, proposals, and donor stewardship, growing a pipeline of support for a company serving 18,000+ annual attendees. The role centers on proactive outreach, grants management, and coordination with the Founding Producing Artistic Director

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising with donor responsibility.
• Proven ability to build donor relationships via personal outreach.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Clear, persuasive grant/proposals writing.
• Familiarity with donor databases/CRM; Ludus/DonorBox experience helpful.
• Commitment to accessibility and diverse artists.
• Evening and weekend availability.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of current, lapsed and prospective donors with a documented next step.
• Initiate weekly outreach by email, phone and personal note; invite to readings and tours.
• Match donors to programs and prepare leadership for each solicitation.
• Move donors to recurring, named support for the company.
• Run the year-end appeal and Giving Tuesday; launch and grow a monthly giving program.
• Own the grants calendar for foundation, government and corporate funders.
• Write and submit proposals and grant reports; prepare budgets and outcomes.
• Build funder relationships before submission; keep funders informed between cycles.
• Acknowledge gifts promptly and share impact; keep donors engaged between asks.
• Coordinate curtain-speech appeals and in-theater giving with the production team.
• Own donor database; run moves management and development calendar.
• Produce monthly pipeline and donor-retention reports for leadership and board.
• Support fundraising events and board outreach; track board giving.
