Job title:Bartender

Reports to: Front of House Managers, General Manager, and Corporate Office

Job Description: Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking a bartender for our restaurant, The Last Refuge. The primary role of the bartender is to provide hospitable guest interactions, while precisely mixing and serving alcoholic beverages to guests and service staff in a friendly and efficient manner. The bartender must be attentive to the needs of our guests while making them feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed. Additionally, the bartender is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, execution of special events, menu changes, and maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate genuine hospitality during every interaction with our guests; including greeting guests, taking food and beverage orders, answering questions, thanking guests, and inviting them to return upon their departure.
  • Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with the tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus, promotions, brand information, and special events.
  • Ensure that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained throughout all areas at all times.
  • Check identification and verify age requirements for all alcoholic beverage purchases.
  • Take beverage and food orders from guests according to company standards and input them into the POS system in a timely manner.
  • Serve food items to guests where appropriate.
  • Exercise portion control according to company standards for all items order/served such as mixed drinks, cocktails, and other bar beverages.
  • Collect revenues, issue receipts, accept payments and return change per company standards.
  • Ensure that the assigned drawer is balanced to the financial records for the service day and follow all cash handling procedures as instructed by Management
  • Report inventory or purchase needs to the Beverage Manager and/or General Manager to replenish supplies
  • Responsible for properly handling plate ware, glassware, and small wares.
  • Communicate ordering necessities to Management.
  • Maintain a positive guest experience with effective communication of all guest recovery situations; while documenting such occurrences to the Manager on Duty.
  • Record any and all Front of House-related COGS including but not limited to Waste Logs and Cost Transfers.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Bar Manager, Front of House Managers, General Manager or Corporate Office.
  • Responsible for adhering to company Appearance Standards.
  • Consistent productivity, following health codes, provide a safe working environment for all staff while maintaining impeccable personal hygiene as well as a high standard of work ethic in the workplace.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous work-related experience required
  • Must be a team player and demonstrate organizational skills.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Excellent verbal skills to be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English
