Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylorsville, NC is seeking a dependable Dietary Puree Cook to join our dietary team. The role focuses on preparing pureed and texture-modified meals for residents with specific dietary needs in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities include following recipes, ensuring correct textures, and maintaining food safety standards while coordinating with dietary aides, nursing staff, and leadership.

Qualifications

• Previous food preparation or cooking experience preferred.
• Experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, hospital, or healthcare kitchen is a plus.
• Experience preparing pureed or texture-modified foods preferred, but training may be provided.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Strong attention to detail, especially with diet requirements.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and written instructions.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Dependable attendance and a positive attitude.
• Must be available to work Monday through Friday and every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pureed and texture-modified meals according to resident dietary requirements.
• Follow established recipes, menus, portion sizes, and guidelines.
• Ensure meals match the prescribed texture and consistency.
• Follow resident meal tickets and diet orders for accuracy.
• Prepare meals in an appealing and appetizing manner.
• Monitor food temperatures and quality during prep and service.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, infection control, and kitchen safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
• Label, store, rotate, and handle food products appropriately.
• Assist with meal prep and other dietary duties as needed.
• Collaborate with cooks, dietary aides, nursing staff, and leadership.
• Ensure meals are ready for service in a timely manner.
