Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina is seeking a Textile Grader / Machine Operator to process donated textiles, sort and grade by quality, and support production and safety goals in a fast-paced facility in North Carolina.

You will operate sorting equipment, log production data, and assist with material recovery tasks while maintaining a clean workstation and following safety rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic math skills and ability to use a calculator.
• Ability to stay focused during repetitive tasks and maintain accuracy.
• Standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Sort and grade donated textiles and other materials by quality and category.
• Meet daily production goals as assigned by leadership.
• Learn and perform table sorting, conveyor sorting, machine-assisted sorting, and related processes.
• Record required production information (Gaylord weights, cart categories, starting/ending weights).
• Identify contaminants and route materials to the correct area as directed.
• Load Gaylord boxes and boats using the tilting device with required safety steps.
• Monitor the main system screen and exchange carts from the Fibersort line when carts are full.
• Use the speech sorting system and complete required speech model training.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe workstation free from food, drink, and personal items.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE at all times.
