CITY Laundering Company is seeking a Textile Control Manager to oversee inventory, cost controls, and utilization of textiles across the operation. You will collaborate with Production, Service, Purchasing, and Stockroom to ensure accurate inventories and efficient controls.

Responsibilities include setting inventory levels, coordinating physical counts, monitoring costs and purchases, and reducing losses. Prior experience in textile or laundry inventory is preferred in a fast-paced industrial

Responsibilities

• Establish minimum, maximum, and reorder levels and monitor inventory by item, style, size, and product category.
• Identify shortages before they affect production or customer service, and flag excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and discontinued inventory.
• Redeploy usable inventory between customers, routes, departments, and locations before purchasing additional merchandise.
• Coordinate periodic physical inventories and cycle counts, and investigate significant differences between physical and system inventory.
• Monitor textile purchases, replacement costs, and overall merchandise investment against established budgets and targets, and analyze high-cost categories and purchasing trends to reduce unnecessary purchases.

Position Summary:

The Textile Control Manager manages and controls the flow, inventory, utilization, quality, and cost of textiles throughout CITY Laundering Co.’s industrial laundry operation, ensuring garments, linens, mats, towels, and other items are available in the right quantities to meet customer requirements while minimizing loss, unnecessary purchases, excess inventory, shortages, and premature replacement. The position works closely with Production, Service, Purchasing, Stockroom, Customer Service, and management to maintain accurate inventories and effective controls.

Responsibilities:

• Manage inventory levels for rental textiles—including uniforms, garments, linens, towels, and mats—based on customer requirements, circulation quantities, usage patterns, growth, and replacement needs.
• Establish minimum, maximum, and reorder levels and monitor inventory by item, style, size, and product category.
• Identify shortages before they affect production or customer service, and flag excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and discontinued inventory.

• Monitor merchandise cost as a percentage of revenue and identify opportunities to extend the useful life of textiles.
• Develop processes to identify and reduce textile loss by customer, route, product, department, and location.
• Investigate unusual replacement activity and root causes, and address customers or routes with excessive loss, abuse, or damage.
• Determine whether damaged merchandise should be repaired, reused, downgraded, or retired, and establish retirement and replacement standards.
• Track lost and ruined merchandise and recommend appropriate customer charges when applicable.
• Oversee inventory controls for rental uniforms, including new wearer installations, size and style changes, replacements, and terminations.
• Recover garments from terminated employees and canceled accounts, and return removed garments to available inventory when appropriate.
• Establish standardized stockroom processes for receiving, issuing, transferring, returning, and retiring merchandise; maintain accurate inventory locations; and implement cycle counts for high-value items while preventing unauthorized removal of merchandise.
• Partner with Production to maintain sufficient circulating inventory and resolve bottlenecks that keep textiles out of normal circulation.
• Monitor reject, stain, damage, and rag-out levels and identify opportunities to reduce premature textile disposal.
• Work with Service and Route Service Representatives to improve textile accountability at customer locations.
• Compare customer inventory to actual usage and contract terms, and support inventories during installations, conversions, renewals, and cancellations.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and vendors on forecasts, lead times, substitutions, quality issues, and product changes, and evaluate products based on total cost of ownership rather than purchase price alone.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory or ERP systems.

Preferred

• Experience in commercial laundry, uniform/linen/textile rental, or a related industry, including managing rental garments or reusable textile inventory.
• Familiarity with route-accounting, laundry-management, barcode, or RFID inventory systems.
• Supervisory or management experience, including developing inventory KPIs and cost-control programs.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly walk through production, warehouse, stockroom, and distribution areas.
• Stand for extended periods when conducting inventories or operational reviews.
• Lift and move textile products and inventory as required.
• Work in an industrial laundry environment with exposure to heat, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
