Job summary

University of Houston System seeks a part-time Library Assistant to support daily library operations. You will assist staff, help patrons with computing needs, manage circulation tasks, and help with study room monitoring and content organization.

The role requires current UHD enrollment (6+ credit hours) and Texas Work Study eligibility. Reliability and punctual attendance are essential, with light clerical duties and accessibility support included.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at UHD for the semester applying for six or more college credit hours.
• Must qualify for Texas Work Study via Financial Aid.
• Must be reliable and show up for every scheduled shift.

Responsibilities

• Assists Library staff with day-to-day tasks.
• Helps patrons with computing (MS Office, Blackboard, etc.), printing, scanning.
• Performs circulation duties: checks in and out study room cards, headphones, cables, etc.
• Enters study room reservation data; monitor study rooms.
• Clears printer jams and maintains paper levels; some lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Logs in non-UHD patrons, alumni, and prospective students.
• Shelve returned materials and organizes shelves.
• Pick-up materials left out and check into the system for statistics.
• Light cleaning of 5th floor and light clerical work.
• Assists with usability tests and user experience projects.
• Edits documents for web accessibility standards and maintains the library CMS.
• Troubleshoots online library resources and technology hardware.
