Job summary

The College of Health Care Professions in Texas seeks a Pharmacy Technician externship coordinator to develop and maintain externship partnerships, oversee site visits, mentor students, and support career readiness across the program.

This role manages externship documentation, online coursework, and collaboration with employers and internal teams to ensure successful completion of externships and strong employment outcomes for graduates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as Pharmacy Technician in retail, hospital, or specialty settings.
• At least 1 year coordinating externships or student training in education/healthcare.
• Teaching/training experience in pharmacy technician education preferred.
• Experience building partnerships with healthcare facilities and employers.
• Experience conducting site visits and monitoring student performance.
• Proficient in curriculum delivery and maintaining compliance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Secure and manage externship sites aligned with program objectives.
• Obtain new affiliations in geographic areas where students reside.
• Conduct regular site visits to evaluate student performance and relationships.
• Collaborate with Career Services to transition externs into employment.
• Provide guidance on attendance, professionalism, and performance.
• Conduct externship orientations and support resume/interview prep.
• Maintain documentation including timecards, evaluations, and affiliations.
• Monitor student progress, finalize evaluations and exit interviews.
• Teach and manage the online externship course.
• Tutor students at risk of not passing board exams.
