The Virginia Department of Fire Programs serves the citizens of the Commonwealth by enhancing public safety through supplemental funding to local governments, education, training to first responders, fire prevention and life safety education through community risk reduction and statewide fire code enforcement.
The Testing and Certification Coordinator supports the Training and Operations Branch through the coordination and administration of statewide testing and certification operations. This position ensures accurate, consistent, secure, and timely administration of testing, certification processing, credential records, and related business processes.
The position coordinates computer-based and traditional testing operations, certification processing, testing records, examination security, quality assurance activities, and customer support. The coordinator serves as a subject matter expert for testing and certification processes and systems and works collaboratively with the Testing and Certification Manager, Training and Operations Brach leadership, Division Chiefs, adjunct instructors, evaluators, internal staff, accreditation partners, and external fire service stakeholders. The position assists in developing, documenting, implementing, auditing, and continuously improving standardized testing and certification procedures to support consistency, regulatory and accreditation requirements, data integrity, and effective statewide service delivery.
